Mimi’s Story of Mimi A La Mode

For the last twenty years, as creator and designer at Mimi A La Mode, I have been inspired to create beautiful things that help women feel pretty, sexy and young.

From my early teens I dreamed of a career in fashion, but wanted it to be something unique. Something extraordinary! Designing jeans and t-shirts would not do for me.

After graduating from design college I gained valuable business experience by working various jobs in the fashion industry.

It was time to start my own business.

One day I looked at my shower cap and noticed that it wasn’t very pretty. Then I saw a music video of Madonna wearing a striped bonnet with a big satin ribbon bow and thought, "I should design shower caps as glamorous as that."

That’s how Mimi A La Mode was born.

I sewed the first of my designs and they sold immediately to my friends and associates. Word spread and soon high-end stores like Fred Segal, Nordstrom, and boutiques, catalogs, gift shops and spas around the world wanted my designs. I was sewing and working all hours to keep up with the demand for my fun, whimsical bed, bath and beauty accessories.

When I began to get requests for matching products to go with the shower caps I expanded my collection to include sleep masks, spa wraps, and a whole line of fun, sexy, feminine lifestyle items.

After my sleep mask starred in the very first series of Sex and the City when Carrie wore it in a scene in Episode 4, demand increased even more.

I realized that not everyone could come to Hollywood or shop at upscale stores. I began looking for a way to give more women access to my collections. That’s when I decided party plan selling would be a fantastic fit for Mimi A La Mode. As my designs were gaining even more exposure by featuring in Tyra Banks 2009 Holiday Luxe Living Gifts Show I knew there would be no better time than now!

By opening a direct selling division I can help other women start their own business as I have done, by selling my designs.

Mimi A La Mode is unique. No other party plan company offers exclusive products like mine. Hollywood, where I live and work around celebrities every day is my inspiration for all of Mimi A La Mode’s designs. This is an incredible opportunity for anyone who wants a job that is fun and exciting.
